First LR tonight!

Today was my first "long run" of training program; 4 miles. I felt great. When I started out everything creaked and cracked and groaned in protest but after the first mile I was nice and loose with pretty minor knee pain. They are still a bit tender but I wasn't limping this time. Those two days of rest did my body well.

I'm able to run the majority of the hills now and I only walked a handful of times (a few stop lights, crazy icy, slick spots on the road and once when a bitch in an escalade almost hit me...don't worry...I gave her the finger).

My average pace was 12:30, my first two splits were around 12:00, which is pretty good considering it's a bit cold. The last mile was hard because it's the furthest i've ran so far but I got it done and not too worse for the wear.

You don't realize how many hills are in your area until you start running. I'm pretty sure I was running up hill both ways. The first mile is mostly downhill, the other 2 are uphill the entire way. It's exhausting but I know, in the long, it's only going to benefit me. I told Scott that I wonder what my pace would be on flat ground and how much longer I could run if I wasn't fighting with an incline the entire time. I have a feeling that my 3 mile run on Tuesday is going to feel like a piece of cake compared to today and that makes me pretty excited.

My body felt a lot stronge today because I think I finally figured out how to fuel myself properly now I just need to remember to hydrate myself...I suck so bad at drinking water.

Gavin is learning how to write his letters and is doing such a great job. I don't have a doubt in my mind that he's going to do great in school.

As i'm writing this i'm icing my knees (with frozen vegetables because Scott used all the ice to make beer today) and Quinn is giving me a check up with a plastic fork and some play-doh containers. I love the imagination of a 2 year old.

Kegan is hungry but refuses to nurse after I run. I guess I taste bad? lol

Along with my exercising we're trying to eat a bit cleaner and healthier. Tonight we're having smothered chicken and roasted parmesan and garlic cauliflower and sweet potatoes. The kids protested a bit in the beginning to the sudden influx of all these vegetables but they are getting used to it and actually ask for "the orange potatoes" now.
